Sunday Times Generations Next 2017: Brands Winning Millennials

The loss of a single job is one job too many asserts Proudly South African Chief Marketing Officer, Happy Ngidi. She was a panelist at the Sunday Times Generations Next Youth Marketing Conference held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on the 11th May 2017. Ngidi further added that the struggle is not yet over with challenges like unemployment, poverty and generational inequality.

The event was kicked off by the Sunday Times Editor, Bongani Siqoko who shared news that Sunday Times plans to release their face-lift 25 June. Catherine Bothma from HDI Youth Marketeers followed with a presentation that covered insights on youth spend and their input in a countrywide survey. She later provided us with an overview of what kids, teens and young adults save for, can’t live without and their birthday wish lists.

Another speaker who caught my attention was influence activist, Arye Kellman with his take on audience involvement on social media. His presentation was visually driven, interactive and it covered the latest thinking on influencer marketing.

Sunday Times Generation Next Awards

The closing part of proceedings was the awards ceremony which was hosted by Wackhead Simpson whose comical personality lit up the room and was a source of entertainment for this part of the show.

The event set the bar even higher for 2018.
